Mirissa

Before Mirissa became a household name among travelers, it was a sleepy fishing village where wooden boats pulled ashore at sunset and families grilled the day's catch over coconut husk fires. Today, it has evolved into Sri Lanka's most beloved beach town — but remarkably, it has not lost its soul. Unlike some overdeveloped beach destinations, Mirissa still feels intimate — beachside cafés serve grilled lobster for less than a city restaurant, and if you walk ten minutes beyond the main strip, you will find empty stretches of sand where the only footprints are yours.
